What a typical visit includes

Scope varies by property, but a recurring visit generally covers the following areas on foot.

  • Parking lots and parking rows.
  • Curbs, gutters and curb lines.
  • Sidewalks and pedestrian walkways.
  • Storefront and building entrances.
  • Building perimeters.
  • Landscape beds and parking islands.
  • Cart corral areas.
  • Loading and service areas.
  • Dumpster areas and the ground around them.
  • Pavement crack and cigarette butt detailing.
  • Outdoor trash can areas, where included in the agreement.
  • Property edges and tree lines.
  • Documented notes on anything found that needs another vendor's attention.

How disposal works

Collected litter and debris go into the dumpsters and trash cans already on the property. Exterior appearance service is not a hauling service, and nothing is taken off site.

If a property makes more trash than the onsite containers can hold, that is a conversation with the trash vendor rather than part of appearance work.

What is not included

Clear exclusions make a scope easier to manage. Exterior appearance service does not replace these specialized trades.

  • Mechanical parking lot sweeping of driveable pavement.
  • Pressure washing and surface restoration.
  • Landscaping, mowing, pruning and bed installation.
  • Snow and ice removal.
  • Interior janitorial work.
  • Trash hauling and dumpster service.
  • Bulk junk removal and hazardous material handling.

How it fits with your other vendors

Sweeping covers open pavement. Landscaping covers plant material. Janitorial covers the interior. Exterior appearance service covers the detail work between those scopes — the corners, edges and perimeters equipment cannot reach.

The three vendor scopes are complementary, not overlapping, which is why properties with all three still find debris in the same places without hand-detail coverage.

Common questions

Does exterior appearance service include hauling trash away?
No. Everything collected goes into the dumpsters and trash cans already on the property. Nothing is hauled off site.
Do we still need parking lot sweeping if we have exterior appearance service?
They cover different things. Mechanical sweeping handles open driveable pavement; exterior appearance service handles hand-detail areas like curbs, beds, perimeters and entrances that sweepers cannot reach.
